Originally coming from Hip Hop, Token is a Berlin based techno producer and DJ.
His characteristic way of crisp production and mastering ranges from House, Minimal, Techno and Deeptech to Dub and even Drum ‘n Bass. Having finished the studies in Audio Engineering he combines this professional approach with openess to the weird and fun elements inside (making) music.
As a member of the Kopfüber Collective he likes to play b2b and cooperate also when it comes to production; for example with his side project Stante Pede.
Whereas he was presenting many of his own minimalistic dubtech and experimental productions on our very first orbit event, for the upcoming night we are looking forward to hear a straight DnB set. See you on the dancefloor !

The name says it all. Without the booth there’s no music.
Dj.Pult aka ROB (AmazingMono) has been active within the free tekno party movement for several years, playing acid, tribe and hard tekno. Before starting his side-project as Dj.Pult he’d taken part in the foundation of ex-Protek Soundsystem and contributes to events run by AmazingMono (https://soundcloud.com/amazingmono-1 ) Soundsystem and SlowSystem; both from Leipzig. As well he is connected with Berlin’s Yaya23 records and A-Sound.
As his alter ego Dj.Pult, ROB creates playful sets which range from breakbeat over footwork to the good old acid house classics. Though he’ll definitely make your feet move, there is one rule in life to strictly follow: DO NOT DANCE WITH THE POLICE!

Only just having returned from Sound System Outernational festival in Italy we are grateful to have Stefanie Alisch (Humboldt Universität zu Berlin) as a part of this evening, presenting this wonderful talk:
Animadores in Angolan Kuduro: Towards an Epistemology of Sound Systems
Sound system cultures of the Black Atlantic such as reggae/dancehall, jungle/drum&bass or kwaito have been portrayed in various ethnographies.
The knowledge required to perform sound system practices, however, has rarely been construed through an academic lense.
Operators wield knowledge about technology, room and electro acoustics. Selectors draw on musical knowledge in order manipulate audiences through sound.
Deejays must know verbal and bodily-performative ways of directing the audience’s attention on top of knowing the tunes and knowing how to hold a dance together. They also disseminate knowledge over the microphone.
In her talk Stefanie Alisch introduces the performative strategies used in Angolan kuduro in the context of an epistemology of sound systems, focussing on the strategies “animadores” (animators, MCs) deploy to hold kuduro performances together.
As her alter ego Aporia Barrage she will also play a Kuduro set and kickstart the evening transformation from creative & intellectual input to pure audible enjoyment.

Talking about Sound System Culture in Berlin we have to call out to Chantal (Chantal Trouwborst).
Djing since 2000, she brings the energy of the underground to the Tolerade 2019 afterparty.
In 2003, she joined the international sound collective Cyberrise (https://soundcloud.com/cyberrise) based in Berlin. As playing is only one part of her sound affinity Chantal also works as a sound engineer, supporting the sounds of Cyberrise, Yaya23 records and the feminist sound system Femtek (http://femtek.blogsport.de/).
Chantal is the curator and organizer of the E.L.F – Extreme Low Frequency party series, which brings together DJ sets, live sets and visuals with visual arts and performances.
And for those who can’t wait until Sound System Culture is on… check out Chantal’s set on the 13th of April at no shox x FEMTEK – for location details, ask your local network.

Hailing from Sarajevo, Jah Forcefield is the newest joint musical venture from original Bosnian dubwise foundation that brought Bass-ul-Ulema Sound & Zentash Gigawatt. The trio – Monodread/Bademah/Zentash Gigawatt Dubz aimes towards bringing together all of their influences, knowledge and skills into one cohesive picture, original sound and vibration that will be easily recognizable and authentic. Check it out here:

The main focus of Jah Forcefield permeates through the study of heavy conscious basslines intended exclusively for sound system dance and wandering into quiet introspective spaces almost to the same extent as dwelling deep into club culture. The trio organized and shared stage with the likes of Vibronics, Joe Nice, High Tone, Brain Damage, Zenzile, Dubble Dub (CRO), Baga Sound (BA), Bass Culture (CRO) and many many others.
They will be playing an exclusive dubplate DJ set containing 90% own productions from reggae towards dubtech, showing the connections between those genres. We are more than exited to invite them for their first time in Berlin! 🔊🔊🔊
